Medcen Hospital was established in 1998 by two Samoan doctors with the backing of local businesses and individuals who saw the need for a well equipped private healthcare facility to cater for the growing healthcare needs of the rapidly growing Samoan population.
Medcen Hospital, located in the cool heights of Vailima and not far from Robert Louis Stevenson memorial, was officially opened to serve the Samoan public on the 18th December 1998 by the late Malietoa Tanumafili II then Head of State of Samoa.
Medcen Hospital is a fully equipped modern healthcare facility that strives to provide a high standard of care backed by professional medical, nursing and technical staff.
Medcen Hospital has the distinction of being the first private hospital to be established in the South Pacific and achieved international certification status in 2003 when it was awarded ISO 9000:1994 certification by Quality Assurance Services, Sydney.
Medcen Hospital has a full complement of resident doctors, consultants, nurses, midwifes and visiting specialists supported by well equipped laboratory, xray and ultrasound facilities. It also has a fully equipped emergency room, operating theatre, delivery room and a modern state of the art dental clinic staffed by a full time dentist and a dental assistant.
